CARADDE: Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat is committed to maintaining integrity, independence, objectivity, and transparency throughout the publication process. A conflict of interest (COI), also known as a competing interest, may occur when financial, personal, professional, academic, institutional, or other interests could influence, or reasonably be perceived to influence, the implementation of community service activities, interpretation of results, manuscript evaluation, editorial decisions, or publication outcomes.
The existence of a relationship or specific interest does not automatically indicate unethical conduct. However, all relevant interests must be disclosed transparently to allow editors, reviewers, and readers to assess any potential influence on the research process and publication.
Authors’ Responsibilities
All authors submitting manuscripts to CARADDE are required to disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest that may influence the community service activities or the publication of the manuscript.
Conflicts of interest may include, but are not limited to:
-
Financial interests, such as research funding, sponsorship, honoraria, consultancy relationships, ownership interests, or financial support from parties that may benefit from the results of the published work.
-
Professional and institutional interests, including employment relationships, institutional collaborations, partnerships, or organizational involvement that may influence the objectivity of the reported activities.
-
Personal interests, such as family relationships, close personal relationships, or other affiliations that may affect the interpretation of results or publication decisions.
-
Academic or intellectual interests, including supervisory relationships, academic competition, intellectual property ownership, or other academic interests related to the community service activities and manuscript.
-
Organizational or commercial interests, including relationships with sponsors, service providers, business partners, or other parties that may obtain benefits from the publication.
Authors must include a Conflict of Interest Statement in the submitted manuscript. If a conflict of interest exists, authors must clearly and briefly describe the nature of the conflict. If no conflict of interest exists, authors must explicitly state that there is no conflict of interest.
Disclosure of conflicts of interest does not replace the requirement to provide a Funding Statement. These two statements serve different purposes and must be reported separately according to the journal’s publication requirements.
Reviewers’ Responsibilities
Reviewers of CARADDE must disclose any relationship or interest that may affect their independence and objectivity in evaluating a manuscript. Conflicts may include professional, institutional, financial, personal, or academic relationships with the authors or organizations involved in the manuscript.
Reviewers must decline the review invitation or withdraw from the review process if a conflict of interest could compromise the fairness and objectivity of their evaluation. Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must not use any information obtained during the review process for personal or third-party benefit.
Editors’ and Editorial Board Responsibilities
Editors and members of the editorial board of CARADDE must maintain independence and impartiality in all editorial decisions. Editors are required to disclose any conflict of interest related to manuscripts under their management.
Editors who have a conflict of interest with a submitted manuscript must not participate in the review process or make editorial decisions regarding that manuscript. In such cases, the manuscript management and decision-making process must be transferred to another editor who has no conflict of interest.
Editorial decisions regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection of manuscripts must be based on the journal’s scope, scientific quality, originality, ethical standards, and peer-review outcomes, and must not be influenced by personal relationships, institutional interests, commercial considerations, or other competing interests.
